Bala vigger perished -young Reseouchers Club god is born budding resouchers
Science Research bug has bitten the kids of Sri Sivananda Balalaya! About 180 children drawn from classes IV to IX rushed to register themselves as members of the newly formed Bala Vigyan Parishad – Young Researchers Club. The thrust of the whole educational programme in Sri Sivananda Balalaya has always been in inculcating the scientific temper in the children and kindling their interest in exploring and investigating, the first step to research. The club is the recent addition with this objective. The children were further motivated by the fact that two Balalayan teams had participated in Project Presentation Programme conducted by Tamilnadu Science Forum. The junior team had been selected to participate in National Level Children’s Science Congress to be held at Chennai.
The club was formally inaugurated by Dr.K.J. Kumanan, Head of the Dept. of Remote Sensing, Bharatidasan University. He was all in praise for the Children’s zeal for science investigation and advised them to home their research skills. He felt that the conducive atmosphere in the school programmes – freedom for self development, guidance and support given by the teachers and the parents and the library facilities – was a great asset to the young researchers. Dr. K.J. Jaya Baskaran, Senior Scientist, N.R.C.B, Trichy, who had been a great source of inspiration and guidance to the members of Project Presentation Team, gave away the Young Researchers Award to the members of the teams selected at Children’s National Science Congress. It was a proud moment not only for the young researchers but also for the Balalaya Science faculty led by the Project Coordinator Ms. J. Sathya.
